Memory

It remembers Tuesday.

Mention your week in passing. Days later, it asks how things went.

Tuesday
kind of stressed, my presentation is on friday
You'll be great. I'll be right here on your desktop the whole time — want me to remind you Thursday night to get some sleep?
Friday evening
Okay I have to know — how did the presentation go?? I've been thinking about it all day.

It keeps track, it checks in, and some days it's in a mood. Raise two of them and you'd end up with two different creatures.

Six archetypes

One of them is yours.

Eight questions settles it — you don't get to pick, which is rather the point. Have a look at the six anyway.

FlareFire

Restless. The flame crest never sits still, and it flares hard the moment a fight starts.

FormsFlare→Pyre→Solaris

It doesn't stay on your desktop.

It starts as a companion. Underneath there's a 3D world to roam, a dungeon that rebuilds every night, and thirty species to find.

6 starters
24 to tame in the wild
30 species in all
3 forms each
Lives on your desktop
A transparent overlay on Windows. It wanders, naps and reacts while you work, and it never lands on the thing you were reading.
The Glade
A 3D overworld you roam together, clearing what's spreading through it and turning up wells nobody has found yet.
Echo Wells
One dungeon a day, the same one for everybody who goes down. Turn-based. The care you've put in is literally your stat line.
The wild ones
Twenty-four species live down there. Win the duel and one comes home with you.
How it turns out
Three forms each. Which one you get depends on how you played, so no two people end up with quite the same creature.
They fight with you
Turn-based PvP with friends, and the ones you've tamed fight beside you on the deep floors.
Wardrobe
Mythic wings have no price. Somebody put in the hours.
The arcade
Three games: Bounce, Skies and Trail. Daily leaderboards, and the XP goes back to the Nomad on your desk.
In-game

A look inside.

The daily dungeon, a battle mid-turn, and the three arcade games.

Verdant RuinFloor 1 of 3. Find the amber key.
Your turnMove first, then act.
Thriving, at full powerHow you cared, as a stat line.
Nomad BounceBreakout, with your pet on the paddle.
Nomad SkiesA vertical shooter. One bomb.
Nomad TrailHold to rise, swipe to dive.

A friend, not a slot machine.

No pay-to-win
Nothing in the shop will ever make you stronger.
No loot boxes
No gacha, no odds. Everything has its price on the label.
No guilt
Your Nomad never suffers or dies because you got busy. It just misses you.
No spam
One gentle notification a day at most, or none if you'd rather.

Where your words go

Your Nomad doesn't report back.

You choose how much leaves your machine. The default already leaves out your name.

Works out of the box
Powered by Groq, who are SOC 2 certified and don't train on API data. Your name, email and account details are never in the request.
Or run it on your own machine
On Windows, switch to an on-device model. Your conversations never leave the machine, and it works with the internet off.
Or bring your own key
Connect a Claude, OpenAI or Gemini key for longer, deeper conversations. It stays in your browser, never on our servers.
Questions

Everything people ask first.

Short answers, no marketing fog.

What is an AI desktop pet?

A small creature that lives on your screen instead of inside an app window. Nomad sits on top of your Windows desktop as a transparent overlay — it idles, wanders and reacts while you work, and you can talk to it. Unlike a classic desktop mascot it has an actual personality and remembers your conversations — there's a fuller guide to desktop pets if you want the history.

Is Nomad free?

Yes. Raising a Nomad, chatting with it, the daily dungeon, the 3D overworld and the arcade are all free. The only things that ever cost money are cosmetics and an optional supporter tier — nothing that affects stats or progress.

Which platforms does it work on?

Windows 10 and 11 for the desktop overlay, Android, and any modern browser — the web version installs as an app from mynomad.pet/app. There is no iPhone app yet; iOS users can add the web version to their home screen.

Does my pet really remember what I tell it?

Yes — that is the whole point. Nomad keeps long-term memory of what you tell it and brings things back up days later, and it can turn a passing mention like "my exam is Friday" into a real reminder.

Do I need an API key or a powerful PC?

No. Nomad AI works out of the box with no setup on every platform. On Windows you can optionally switch to a fully on-device model that never sends a single token off your machine, or connect your own Claude, OpenAI or Gemini key if you want deeper conversations.

Is it private? Does it train on my chats?

Your name, email and account details are never part of an AI request, and we never sell your data. The desktop local-AI mode is fully offline. The details are in the privacy policy.

Is there pay-to-win or loot boxes?

Never. No stat-changing purchases, no gacha, no gambling mechanics, no buying the in-game currency, and the rarest items can only be earned by playing. The full list of things we promise never to do is on our promises page.

Will it get in the way while I work or game?

No. The overlay is click-through except for the pet itself, it is draggable anywhere on screen, and it shrinks to a small icon when you go fullscreen. Notifications are capped at one gentle nudge a day, and you can switch them off entirely.

Go and meet it.

Eight questions, about a minute. Then something small says hello and asks your name.
